Orders and Ownership

The Orchestration Console uses the concept of ownership of an order to make sure that only one person at a time can modify an order.

In order to modify an order, you must take ownership of the order:

If the order you want to modify is not currently owned by someone else, the Orchestration Console automatically grants you ownership of the order when you attempt to edit it.
If the order is already owned by someone else, you can take over ownership of the order before modifying it. However, you cannot prevent someone else from taking ownership of the order away from you.

You can either take over control/ownership of an order from another user or resume work in progress (either from another Orchestration Console session, from another workstation, or in the case of a lost network connection).

Taking Ownership of an Order

If you try to modify or save modifications to an order that is currently owned by someone else, you will be prompted to do one the following:

Override - Take ownership/control of the order including any changes saved by the previous owner.
Dismiss - Take ownership/control of the order and discard any of the previous owner's changes.
Cancel - Discontinue your attempt to modify the order.

Resuming Work in Progress

If you do already have ownership of the order and try to modify it or save modifications in another browser or Orchestration Console session (for example: if you've changed workstations or lost your network connection while editing), you will be prompted to do one of the following:

Resume - Take ownership/control of the order and continue the work in progress.
Dismiss - Take ownership/control of the order and discard any of the previous changes.
Cancel - Discontinue your attempt to modify the order.
