Customer Configuration Details Panel

Use the Customer Configuration Details panel to configure options related to customer management and also website management. This includes Login Type, Password Reset Options, Password Strength, Customer Search, and Customer Account Lock Down options.

Accessing the Customer Configuration Details panel:

1. From the Navigation panel, click Configuration.
The Customer Configuration Details panel is displayed.

The Customer Configuration Details panel consists of the following tabs:

System Configuration Tab

The System Configuration tab is displayed by default when you view the Customer Configurations Details panel. Using this tab you can configure options related to Customer management.

The System Configuration tab contains the following controls and commands:

Name

Description

General Settings section

Contains controls to adjust the Customer module functionality.

Login Type

Specifies the login types that are supported. Valid choices include the following:

Email address - This radio button option restrict logins to email addresses only.

Username - This radio button option allows the use of usernames at login.

Allow Unregistered Customers

Specifies whether or not unregistered customers are supported. Choose either Yes or No.

Password Reset Options

Specifies the password reset options that are supported. Choose either Auto Generate Only or Allow Manual Entry.

Password Reset Ticket Expiration Delay (in minutes)

Specifies the Password Reset Ticket Expiration Delay (in minutes).

Delay for failed attempts (in seconds)

Enforces an exponentially-increasing waiting period between each failed login attempt.
The number entered here doesn’t have to be very high (1 or 2 seconds are sufficient). This keeps the process nearly transparent for your customers while still helping to prevent brute-force attacks.

Password Strength Options section

Contains controls to adjust the customer password strength options.

Minimum Length

Specifies the minimum length required for customer account passwords.

Minimum Non_Alphanumeric Characters

Specifies the minimum number of special (non-alphanumeric) characters that the passwords must contain.

Password Strength Regular Expression (Membership Provider)

Use this field to enter a Regex expression that provides additional validation rules for customer passwords.

Customer Search

Contains controls to adjust the customer search method.

Default Method

Specifies the default search method used for customer search. Valid choices include the following:

Search All, Last Name, Phone Number, or Email.

Lock Down Options section

Contains controls to adjust the Customer Account Lock Down options.

Maximum Number of attempts before customer account is locked down

Specifies the maximum number of attempts before the customer account is locked down. The default value is 5 attempts.

Window time for failed attempts before lock down (in minutes)

Specifies the window time for failed attempts before lock down (in minutes). The default value is 5 minutes.

Lock down duration (in minutes)

Specifies the lock down duration (in minutes). The default value is 30 minutes.


Custom Configuration Tab

Use the Custom Configuration tab to create your own configuration settings.

The Custom Configuration tab contains the following controls and commands:

Name

Description

Name

Specifies the name of the custom configuration setting. The name of the configuration setting must be unique.

Value

Specifies the value of the custom configuration setting. The value is stored as a string.

To sort the list of settings by name:

Click the header of the Name column.

The list of settings will cycle through being sorted in ascending then descending order.
