About Catalogs

A product catalog is an organized list of products and their characteristics. Orckestra Commerce Cloud Catalogs can be found at the Global and Sales scopes, whereas dependent scopes inherit the catalog of their parent sales Scope.

Virtual Scopes do not have a catalog.

In catalogs, you can create and enrich core product data while adding external content and digital assets directly in the Product Management application.

Use Case: Your business has multiple brands with different product offerings but products have to be shared across brands. You would then have a Sales scope to support each brand and source your catalog content from the Global scope catalog.

For example: when you open the Better Retail catalog, products are organized under different categories and sub-categories. The Global scope catalog contains all products available in your markets.

Your market offers winter coats. However, the Caribbean market may not want to sell winter coats.

The relationship between catalogs of different Scopes matches the hierarchical relationship of the Scopes: the global catalog is the master catalog and includes all products offered throughout all Scopes. A sales catalog includes either the entire contents of the global catalog products (North American Sales Scope), or a subset of its products (South American Sales Scope). However, the characteristics that define products can be entirely customized in a sales catalog, along with the taxonomies that categorize them. You can also create products in the global catalog or create products accessible to a single sales catalog.
