Understanding Variant Search Results
Use this overview to help you understand the variant search behavior that occurs when searching for products from the Product Management application, the Order Management product picker, or the Marketing Product Picker.
Search results are always displayed as Results by product. One search result for each product and that result includes all the variant combinations of the product. Search results contain the following information:
• | Product ID |
• | Product Name |
• | Regular Price (for variants the prices range is displayed) |
• | Inventory Status |
When the variant search option specified is One result for each variant, one search result for each variant combination is displayed.
When the variant search option specified is One result for each key variant attribute value, the search results are grouped by one key variant attribute.
For example, search results for a product grouped by color, by retail size or by volume.
When the variant search option specified is One result for each custom attribute value, variants of a product are grouped by custom attribute to showcase certain variants over others in the search results.
When you click a variant search result in the product picker, all the variants for that product are displayed.
Only active products or variants with inventory are returned. Inactive or out-of-stock products or variants are not displayed in search results.
