Managing Promo Codes
MARKETING > CAMPAIGNS
Promo codes act as additional conditions that determine whether or not a customer is eligible for a reward. This means that when promo codes are activated in a specific promotion, the customer must meet all the conditions programmed in the promotion, but they cannot obtain the reward unless they also provide the right promo code.
There are two types of promo codes:
Typically, a single promo code is used when you want the same code to be entered by all eligible customers.
For example, Better Retail posts code SAVE20 on their website. The promotion states that customers must spend more than $50 and enter code SAVE20 to get 20% off their purchase. All customers who spend over $50 will use the same code to get their discount.
When using multiple promo codes, you can either get the Orchestration Console to generate them for you or create them yourself and import your own list from an Excel spreadsheet. All the codes are associated with the same promotion, so it is possible to hand out individual codes to each client or to give different codes to different channels to analyze their respective efficiency.
For example, during a recent corporate event, Better Retail handed out brochures to the attendees. Each brochure contained a unique promo code that customers could use to get $50 off a special edition Holiday sterling silver charm from November 30th to December 15th. Each code was usable only once, so even if the recipients shared it with family and friends, the code would not work on multiple occasions.
The following tasks are available:
•
Generating Multiple Promo Codes: Provide a prefix and a suffix, then let the system generate the rest of your promo codes by specifying how many codes you'd like to generate. |
•
Importing Promo Codes from a File: If your organization uses very specific promo code formats and you wish to continue to do so, you can create a list of codes in an Excel spreadsheet and import them into the Orchestration Console. |
•
Exporting Promo Codes: You can extract the list of all promo codes generated or imported for any given promotion. |
•
Deactivating and Reactivating Promo Codes: You can toggle between requiring customers to enter promo codes in order to obtain rebates when they are eligible for them, or letting the promotion apply without any additional action on the customer's part. |
