Managing Marketing Segments

Segments provide an effective means to target specific sub-groups within your customer base when granting promotions. Using conditions that are based on the profiles that make up your customer record, you can target customers based on their addresses on file, the organizations they belong to, the store they deal with and other criteria such as including custom profiles that you have implemented to meet business needs such as age groups or delivery preferences.

The following introductory articles are available to assist you with the concept of segments:

Understanding Marketing Segments: This document defines segments and their roles in promotions.
Understanding Segment Condition Types: This topic describes conditions and the various types of conditions available to use within segments.

The following tasks are available in the Marketing application:

Viewing Marketing Segments: Display the list of existing marketing segments. Segments can be filtered according to whether they are active or inactive.
Creating Marketing Segments: Build a segment by providing its display name and description. You can activate it immediately.
Adding Conditions to a Marketing Segment: Conditions determine who is included within each segment. Set or adjust the rules according to your business needs.
Grouping Conditions within a Marketing Segment: Add multiple conditions to the same group if you wish to connect them with a different operator than you are using for the segment as a whole. Groups give you added flexibility in creating complex "and/or" statements in your segments.
Modifying Marketing Segments: Once a segment has been created, it is possible to edit its display name or description, to activate or deactivate it, or to modify its conditions.
Removing Conditions from a Marketing Segment: Remove condition groups from your segment if they no longer apply or contain conditions that they shouldn't.
Deleting Marketing Segments: Existing segments can be deleted as needed when they are no longer being used.
